Dear John,
The Trump Administration wants to open lands near Sequoia National Park to the fossil fuel industry. This is part of its new plan to expand drilling and fracking to vast amounts of federal lands in California. It’s not just Sequoia at risk -- the plan also threatens Yosemite and Kings Canyon.
Drilling and fracking destroy our wild places, spew toxic air pollution, induce earthquakes, and jeopardize human health -- not to mention contribute to the climate crisis. If we want to preserve a safe and liveable planet for future generations, we need to keep fossil fuels in the ground -- not start more drilling and fracking projects.
We’re not going to let Trump destroy some of our most iconic wild places on our watch. But we need your help to stop Trump’s plan. In honor of Giving Tuesday, will you make a special donation to protect California’s national parks from the fossil fuel industry, John?
Stop Trump from destroying Sequoia, Yosemite and Kings Canyon: Donate $27 or more and your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar!

Sequoia National Park is home to the massive Giant Sequoia trees that are one of our nation’s greatest national treasures. The park supports communities living nearby who depend on it for tourism as well. But Trump wants to throw all that away to help his Big Oil friends.
If we can’t stop the Trump Administration in California, nowhere will be safe. We could see mining in the Smoky Mountains, offshore drilling in Glacier Bay, and even fracking in the Everglades -- nothing is off limits for this administration.
This is the opposite of what we should be doing. We need to keep all fossil fuels in the ground, not hand over our public lands to the fossil fuel industry over the objections of local communities and leaders. We need to end drilling and fracking nationwide. But we can’t do this without you.
Donate now and stop Trump from handing over our National Parks and public lands to the fossil fuel industry!

We’re going up against huge corporations and their powerful cronies in the Trump Administration -- a daunting task. But with Friends of the Earth members like you at our side, I know we can win this fight and save our forests and parks.
We have a comprehensive plan to protect our public lands and keep fossil fuels in the ground:
- We’re organizing and mobilizing for a Green New Deal that phases out fossil fuels while putting communities and workers at the center of climate solutions. Last month, we delivered a letter signed by more than 250 environmental and progressive organizations to Congress pushing for the strong climate action we need. More than 10,000 Friends of the Earth volunteers signed up to deliver this letter to Congressional offices across the country. A strong Green New Deal would prevent all new fossil fuel development -- preserving our wild places for future generations.
- Friends of the Earth members like you have sent more than 30,000 comments to the Bureau of Land Management opposing Trump’s California fracking plan. This strategy has worked in the past to prevent Trump from rolling back protections for public lands like Craters of the Moon National Monument. So we’re doubling down to save Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
- We’re fighting individual fossil fuel projects that threaten our public lands and communities. Our volunteers and organizers in New York pushed the Congressional delegation to oppose the Williams Pipeline -- which helped convince Governor Cuomo to reject it. Now we’re applying those same tactics in Minnesota, Oregon, Colorado, and along the Atlantic Coast Pipeline route to stop these projects as well.
- Our campaigners are working round-the-clock to lobby progressive Members of Congress on Capitol Hill to introduce legislation to protect our public lands. We’re making progress -- Congress has advanced bills to protect Chaco Canyon and other Western monuments. But we need to keep the pressure on.
These actions won’t just help our wild places. Communities across the country are struggling with toxic drinking water, polluted air, and a myriad of other health impacts associated with living near fossil fuel projects. Children are among the most heavily impacted. We must rapidly transition away from fossil fuels to save our only Earth and all of us who call it home.
You know that when we work together, we can move mountains. Even with Trump in the White House, we’ve turned up the heat on Democrats in Congress to fight for the climate solutions we need -- not just what’s politically convenient.
Imagine what we can do for these iconic parks in California! But we’ve got to act fast, before Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon are irreversibly scarred.
In honor of Giving Tuesday, make a generous contribution to Friends of the Earth and help save California’s most iconic wild places. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar -- up to $150,000!
