Hey John,

Eleven days ago, hundreds of thousands of us descended on Washington, D.C. and over 450+ cities across the world to march for action to end gun violence. One day after, 20 U.S. Senators on both sides of the aisle announced a bipartisan gun reform framework, and last night, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was officially introduced.

This is a HUGE moment for our movement. For the first time in our lifetime, Republicans and Democrats have come together to support solutions to end gun violence.

The work doesn’t stop there though. We’re still waiting for the Senate to take a vote and get this bill to President Biden’s desk for signature.

John, Congress is set to go on recess in just TWO days. Can you send an urgent message to your U.S. Senator and demand that they support this gun reform package before they break for recess?

This Safer Communities Act does not accomplish everything we’re fighting for — but it’s real progress. It will finally close the boyfriend loophole, enhance background checks for people under the age of 21, invest $250 million dollars in Community Violence Intervention programs, and help states enact red flag laws among other long-awaited measures.

We need the U.S. Senate to move this bill forward immediately, because all of these measures will save lives. Send a message to your U.S. Senator urging them to pass the bipartisan gun reform package now.
