Dear Ward 8 Residents,

As we end this year's commencement season, I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to the graduating classes of 2022. Our scholars deserve to enjoy this momentous occasion of either moving up in their academic careers or into their professional paths.

The future is exciting. I will remind our graduates to take joy in the opportunities before them and use their God-given talents to make the world a better place. There is a saying from Confucius, a Chinese philosopher in the 6th century BCE that said "The man who says he can, and the man who says he can't are both correct." So decide the way you will take on new challenges. If you believe you "can't," you will fail; if you believe you "can," you will succeed.

This community has raised some very bold, resilient and brilliant scholars. I encourage us to stand together as a village and support our scholars in their future endeavors. Congratulations once again to the graduation classes of 2022. Go on and be unstoppable.

Respectfully,

Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.
