Dear Friends,
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has opened the 2021 Drought Relief Program. From now until July 6, 2022, farmers can apply for up to $7,500 per farm on drought-related expenses. I wanted to let you know as soon as I found out as I know the drought hurt our community.
All Minnesota counties except Goodhue, Rice, Wabasha and Winona are eligible. More information and application instructions can be found here.
There is still time to apply for the Frontline Worker Bonus Pay if you are eligible. Applications are open until July 22 and you can apply here. Thank you to all those who worked during the pandemic!
This week, the Minnesota Supreme Court issued its decision that Minneapolis must meet the minimum police staffing levels required in their city charter, or "show cause why that duty is not being met." Under the charter, Minneapolis must employ a minimum of 731 officers ? well below their current staffing levels. This is a win for officers everywhere. We cannot risk the safety of our communities in favor of the whims of woke politicians. My full statement can be found here.
This week, Governor Walz has discussed issuing $1,000 checks to Minnesotans to help alleviate some of the financial stress we are all experiencing. This political stunt is not what we need.
During the session, House Republicans tried to present permanent tax relief that would provide immediate help to all of Minnesota. Instead, the House Democrats ignored this and we concluded the session with no tax relief and no increases in our public safety measures.? We need lasting relief- not political theater in an election year.?
I hope you are enjoying the summer and please reach out if you need anything!
