Dear Friend,
In case you missed my email from earlier today, I’m copying it below and asking you to take a moment to read it right now.
Giving Tuesday is one of those “feel good” days for giving, but I can tell you that nothing feels good about not being able to pay your bills at the end of each month.
Nothing feels good about the miserly Social Security check the average beneficiary receives.
But, nothing will feel better than when we pass the Strengthening Social Security Act (H.R. 2654), and begin to enjoy an additional $800 in your annual Social Security benefit for as long as you need income.
Thank you for all you do to help the Alliance fight for stronger Social Security for all of us.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Fiesta
Executive Director

Subject: This is No Ordinary Tuesday
Dear Friend,
If you’re like most seniors, your Social Security check doesn’t begin to go far enough.
With an average monthly benefit of just $1,354, too many Social Security beneficiaries view the
end of every month as the time when difficult decisions must be made about which bills to pay
now, and which bills to put off until next month.
That’s why on this Giving Tuesday, I’m asking you to support the Strengthening Social
Security Act (H.R. 2654). This historic legislation will:
-
Give you an additional $800 in Social Security income every year, with bigger checks every month.
-
Improve your annual cost of living adjustment increases and help you keep up with rising costs of day-to-day life.
-
Guarantee your Social Security check for life.
We can’t get this done without you. That’s why I’m asking you to do your part to get this legislation passed.
The sooner we can get Congress to pass the Strengthening Social Security Act, the sooner you can start collecting your bigger Social Security checks.
To make this happen, your Alliance is turning up the heat on Congress. We’ll be going office to office to meet with Senators and Representatives urging them to increase your Social Security benefits, and those of tens of millions of your fellow seniors.
The fact is, one dollar of today’s Social Security benefit is worth just $0.66 compared to what it was worth in 2000. At the same time, the typical expenses of people over 65 have risen by almost 100%.
This can’t go on.
We’re mobilizing all 4.4 million Alliance members for this fight. I hope I can count you among them. Together, we will get this done.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Fiesta
Executive Director
P.S.
Thank you for contributing what you can to our campaign to increase your Annual Social Security check by $800. An increase all seniors need and deserve. Please contribute today.
