Dear John,
At NumbersUSA, we're very thankful that we live in a democracy. We're thankful for you, John, and all of our millions of members, who work with us to bring immigration sanity to our nation. John, our members are why we exist as an organization, and without you, we could accomplish nothing.
We're especially thankful for our donors whose charitable giving makes such activism possible.
The generosity of our members is one of the things that makes NumbersUSA rather unique around Washington. Most of our political opposition is funded by corporations which profit directly from cheap labor, or by ideological foundations. They aren't the ones who have to pay the price of depressed wages, lack of jobs for less-educated Americans, the extra traffic, the surging government costs, and the pressure on our education system all caused by mass immigration.
Thanks to your support over the years, 3 million Americans have sent over 40 million letters or made free phone calls to their elected officials AT NO COST to demand sane immigration policies and oppose amnesty. Eight million have voiced their support on social media. Hundreds of millions of people have watched our videos, social-media posts and advertisements.
What makes my job of raising the money to support our activism uniquely difficult is there's no money to be made opposing immigration. Think about it. Our donors give ONLY because they believe in preserving American democracy, NOT for selfish reasons. They give because they believe American workers deserve good wages and a stable, prosperous society to hand on to their children.
They give because they know that they can bring change in America for the better.

Three hundred and ninety-nine years ago, a band of immigrant pilgrims arrived on America's shores. They prospered when they learned from the natives how to be self-reliant by learning new ways of farming, hunting, and building shelter. The pilgrims were also self-governing.
In 1807, the United States banned the despicable practice of importing slaves, but it would take 58 more years and hundreds of thousands of soldiers' deaths to outlaw slavery, and decades more to end virtual indentured servitude.
Today, forces are aligning to bring back indentured servitude. Even now, a bill before Congress would grant amnesty ... at the price of years of indentured servitude ... to illegal aliens working on farms. And by doing so, encourage more cheap, illegal foreign labor. This bill would yank America backwards to wrongs we hoped we had banished long ago.
NumbersUSA doesn't oppose immigrants. We oppose excessive, uncontrolled, economically and fiscally harmful immigration.
Our vision for America is a nation where all workers, native and immigrant, can earn a decent wage without being undercut by cheap, imported labor; an America whose growth does not outpace our infrastructure and resources.
Today, we're not asking for handouts on behalf of the poor; we're asking to build a future wherein the poor become self-reliant. We're not asking for campaign contributions to fund advertisements filled with empty promises; we're empowering voters to demand politicians fulfill their promises.
We don't need billions of dollars, like our opposition; we only need each of our members, like you, to give what they can, so future generations can be thankful for the America they inherit.
This giving Tuesday, please give the gift of a better future for all Amercans.
