Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

Food Drive

I'm happy to announce my 2022 Summer Food Drive!

My office will be collecting food, school supplies, cleaning supplies, & toiletries to be donated to Daily Bread Community Food Pantry and St. James Episcopal Church Outreach House, two superb local organizations that help support our neighbors and communities. 

We are asking for:

Cereal, canned fruit, spam (or canned meat), juice, peanut butter, coffee, flour, sugar, cooking oil, salad dressing, pasta products.

Backpacks, lunch boxes, notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, index cards, crayons, markers, scissors, calculator, pencil boxes, 3-ring binders.

Shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, menstrual products, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, diapers, dish soap.

We will be collecting these items now until August 5. 

Pathway School Graduation

Last week I had the honor and privilege of presenting the Dr. Harry “Buz” Johnston Memorial Leo Award at The Pathway School graduation ceremony to graduate Jacob Downey. Jake had a busy year, carrying a full load of higher-level academic courses and was dually enrolled in an online course through Montgomery County Community College. 

Jake volunteered as a track coach for younger children at his local CYO and hopes to continue his education in technology upon graduation. Congratulations and Congratulations to all the 2022 graduates!

Juneteenth Recap

This past Saturday to honor Juneteenth, I was invited to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force's Juneteenth event at Eagleville Park. The festivities included a hip-hop dance performance, spoken poetry, local small business vendors and good food!

I was happy to attend this celebration and hope you all were able to commemorate Juneteenth.

Shred Event

I'm partnering with Rep. Matt Bradford to again bring you a free paper shredding event. We will be at Norristown Area High School on Saturday, July 16 with the shredding trucks from 9AM to Noon or until the trucks are full. 

Limit 2 boxes per household, only paper, no electronics or trash. All paper will be recycled.

Cardboard boxes and plastic bags will be returned after materials are shredded. Paper bags can be shredded with the paper.

PRIDE

To cap off PRIDE Month the Bucks-Mont PRIDE festival will be returning for the second year to the Abington Arts Center.

The festival will be this Sunday, June 26 from Noon to 5PM. For more information, visit: https://www.bucksmontpride.com/.
