JOHN,
Right now, Big Oil corporations are taking advantage of a global crisis, raising prices in order to rake in record-setting profits. They don't care that this is hurting our families across the country. Instead, they’re gaslighting us—blaming inflation when really this is about greed.
We’ve got to take on these greedy corporations and hold them accountable.
That’s why I’ve joined other progressives in Congress to push for taxing Big Oil corporations on their excess profits—and sending that money back to the people.
Please sign if you agree: We need to hold greedy oil corporations accountable for price gouging.
In my home state of Michigan, we saw Marathon Petroleum lay off workers while holding onto COVID bailouts—making about $1 million per laid-off worker. That same year, its chief executive made $15.5 million, which is 99 times the average company worker’s salary.
Meanwhile, Marathon continues to violate air permits in my district, poisoning our residents. Community members and I have won hard-fought campaigns to hold Marathon accountable, including forcing them to remove toxic pollutants from Detroit’s riverfront.
I’ve seen first-hand how fossil fuel corporations treat our communities as expendable while paying their executives massive salaries. Enough!
Sign the petition to tell Congress: It’s time for a windfall profits tax on Big Oil. Let’s hold Big Oil accountable.
Together, we’re fighting to make sure that our government works for us, not corporations and billionaires.
In solidarity,
Rashida
