While Texas Democrats like State Sen. Carol Alvarado continue to do everything in their power to fight for the safety of the Lone Star state, Gov. Greg Abbott continues to stand in the way as an immovable object of stubborn selfishness.

Texas Senate Democrats recently proposed four key measures that could prevent a horror like Uvalde from ever occurring again.

1. Raising the legal age for buying a gun to 21.
2. Allowing courts to temporarily remove firearms from people deemed a danger.
3. Requiring private sellers to perform background checks.
4. Including 72 hour cooling period between purchase and possession of a gun.

Sounds great, right? Well, Abbott wants none of it! He’s made it a personal mission of his to make sure that these implementations never see the light of the Texas sun, tossing these talks to committees so far down the pecking order that the idea of change has become an actual fantasy. The truth is out, Gov. Abbott doesn’t care for Texans’ safety.
