I called on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax back in March. High gas prices are hitting working families hard, raising the cost of everything from groceries to the packages we get in the mail. In April, I introduced the GOUGE Act to lower gas prices, maintain transportation funds, and hold big oil and gas companies accountable for price gouging American families. Since then, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and President Biden have come around to the idea.
