It has been an exciting month for us here at Team Roe – we celebrated some significant moments such as National Gun Violence Awareness Day, Pride Month, and Juneteenth.
This month was an important reminder of the progress we've made as a country, and also how much work there is left to do for all our voices to be represented and to achieve equality and justice for everyone.
We have more exciting updates to share – here is everything we've been up to this month!
Events Roundup:
June 1st, Signature Submission
WOW! We are very excited to share this particular news with you – thanks to the efforts of Team Roe, we smashed the signature collection to get Ann on the ballot! We collected over 2,000 signatures for Ann's nomination with the help of 70+ volunteers and signatures from ALL 5 counties in WI-01. Thanks to all of our hard work, Ann is now officially the only Democrat fighting to defeat Bryan Steil this fall.
June 10th, Pride Picnic
Ann attended a Pride Picnic to celebrate Wisconsin's LGBTQ+ community. It is important for allies to show up and support such an important community in our district and how much they've accomplished – plus, the food was AMAZING!
June 10th, Hispanic Roundtable
Ann joined the Hispanic Roundtable to discuss issues facing the Hispanic community and how we can best address these issues going forward. The roundtable encouraged thoughtful conversations and it was an honor for Ann to be part of the panel.
June 11th, #MarchForOurLives
Thank you to Moms Demand Action and the Walworth County Dems for organizing the #MarchForOurLives protests as a candidate, a former teacher, and most importantly, as a mom. These protests brought out the community after the shootings in Uvalde, Buffalo, and even right here in Racine. While Ann was at the protest, Bryan Steil voted against a bill requiring citizens to be 21+ to purchase an assault weapon. Steil continues to fail us as he refuses to do the right thing and pass laws that will protect our families and children, so it's on us. Enough is enough.
June 16th, Gran Prix in Janesville
Ann enjoyed getting out in the sun to watch the Gran Prix with the community. She got to meet new people and congratulate participants on a wonderful race.
June 17th, Reproductive Rights Rally in Kenosha, WI
Ann was invited to attend Kenosha's reproductive justice rally organized by the district's young people, who are dedicated to making their voices heard. Ann got the chance to say a few words about the importance of electing people who trust women to make the best decisions for themselves.
What's Coming Up:
June 25th - June 26th, Ann will be attending the Wisconsin Democrats State Convention
Ann will attend both Wisconsin Democrats State Convention days this weekend. She has been invited as one of the speakers to deliver a talk on the 1st day! It is an honor to join our fellow Dems and come together as a community to share our ideas of how we can make a difference in our state and communities.
