National Indigenous History Month and School Food Actions

June is National Indigenous History Month [4]. It is a time for all people
in Canada to reflect on the unique histories, sacrifices, cultures,
contributions, and strengths of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis
Peoples – because only by understanding our past can we hope to create a
brighter future.

In light of this, we would like to invite you to learn more about school
food programs in First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and for
Indigenous students, and how these programs are creating positive change
both in their communities and across the country via the following
resources:

* The Indigenous School Food Working Group co-hosted by the Coalition,
along with the new map of school food program stories in Indigenous

Health is focused on the very important issue of children’s health.

2023 BC Budget Consultation

The 2023 BC Budget consultation is now open until Friday, June 24. SEE 4
WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE in the 2023 BC Budget Consultation to ask the BC
Government to build on their commitments and fund school food programs in
2023.

Le Mois national de l'histoire autochtone et actions en faveur de
l'alimentation scolaire

Juin est le Mois national de l'histoire autochtone. C'est l'occasion pour
tous les Canadiens et toutes les Canadiennes de réfléchir à l'histoire,
aux sacrifices, aux cultures, aux contributions et aux forces uniques des
Premières nations, des Inuits et des Métis – car ce n'est qu'en
comprenant notre passé que nous pouvons espérer créer un avenir
meilleur.

C'est pourquoi nous vous invitons à en apprendre davantage sur les
programmes d'alimentation scolaire mis en place dans les communautés des
Premières nations, des Inuits et des Métis et pour les élèves
autochtones, et sur la façon dont ces programmes créent des changements
positifs dans leurs communautés et dans tout le pays à travers les
ressources suivantes :
