Helping employers to recognise the value of inclusive recruitment

Inclusive recruitment

Inclusive recruitment is the process of connecting with, interviewing, and hiring a diverse set of individuals through understanding and valuing different backgrounds and opinions.

An inclusive recruitment environment considers how different experiences, opinions and values can work together to achieve a common goal.

In short, it?s about looking at your company?s practices and ensuring you are not placing anyone at a disadvantage. It means you are looking locally, adapting your practices to bring new people in to help your company grow.

It?s about knowing your local community and the organisations that can help you to diversity your workforce; and recognising that everyone has a past and your company could be a part of their future.

Stakeholder managers for the Building Better Opportunities programme like Sarah Bull (left) and Maria Ward work with a range of employment and skills providers dedicated to supporting people furthest away from the labour market.

Grants to help businesses reduce energy costs

Businesses are currently facing a number of inflationary pressures, not least the rising cost of energy. Businesses are also increasingly looking at how they can decarbonise and reduce their carbon footprint.

Nottingham City Council?s Accelerating Reduction in Carbon (ARC) project helps small and medium sized businesses in Nottingham and Greater Nottingham to reduce their energy bills and decarbonise through the introduction of energy efficiency measures.

To help businesses invest in measures that lead to cost and carbon savings Nottingham City Council is offering grants between ?1,000 and ?16,000. The grant can fund 35% of the costs of installing energy saving measures such as LED lighting, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, refrigeration, solar panels and insulation.

Information on the support available and how to apply for a grant can be found at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/arc

Zellar empowers SMEs to rise to the challenge of climate change by making sustainability simple and actionable.

It supports UK businesses with a single view of their emissions and with step-by-step guidance on how to become a more sustainable business.
