Hi John,
“I’m boooreddd!”

Most of us remember saying this as a kid during the summer. If you’re a parent, you may remember your child saying it... earlier today.

Boredom might not seem like a serious problem on the surface, but for an adolescent child, it can cause vulnerabilities. When youth don’t have things to do and healthy ways of getting an adrenaline rush (ropes courses, sports, etc.) they’ll sometimes explore riskier ways to seek excitement – like meeting up with someone they’ve been chatting with online.)

Kids want to have fun – and traffickers see a youth’s boredom as an opportunity to engage, groom, and traffick them.
BUT YOU CAN DISRUPT THAT. ([link removed])

Our Survivor Care program pairs a child with a trauma-informed social worker who will introduce them to safe ways to have fun. We’ll take them to an amusement park, the ocean, an art store, or even just the playground. When they need to process through trauma, we’ll do it over an ice cream cone. We spend a lot of time with them and we’ll also help them figure out other safe people in their life to hang out with.

Your donations ([link removed]) this summer helps kids experience joy, healing, and fun, instead of exploitation.

Thank you.

============================================================
Founded in 2002, Love146 journeys alongside children impacted by trafficking today and prevents the trafficking of children tomorrow. We connect the dots to understand how vulnerability operates in the lives of children, and intervene both to care for survivors who have been harmed and ultimately to prevent harm from happening in the first place. Our work is achieved through the power of relationships and collaboration, listening to those with lived experience and diverse backgrounds, scaling proven practices, and challenging the systems that leave children vulnerable. Our prevention and survivor care work has impacted more than 67,000 young people. Our core commitment is to do what is best for children.
