Dear John
You won’t believe how the federal government blew your money this time.
Governor General Mary Simon, 29 fellow passengers and crew spent $80,000 on in-flight catering during a trip to the Middle East in March.
What do you think they spent the money on? Taxpayers don’t know because the governor general doesn’t have to publish her receipts.
If they spent $80,000 on in-flight catering, how much do you think they spent on hotels and meals while they were in Dubai?
This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to governor general waste.
When a governor general retires, they can still expense taxpayers for $206,040 every year for the rest of their life and up to six months after their death.
Former governors general also receive a full pension for life regardless of how long they serve. Even though former governor general Julie Payette only served for a few years, she will still receive an estimated $4.8 million if she continues to collect the governor general pension to age 90.
All of this comes on top of a $308,972 annual salary for the current governor general.
Do you think these perks are fair? If not, then you need to stand with tens of thousands of other Canadians and sign the online PETITION calling on the government to rein in these unfair governor general perks: https://www.taxpayer.com/petitions/rein-in-governor-general-perks
You need more Canadians to stand with you to fight against these outrageous government perks and benefits. When you’re finishing signing the petition, can you send it to your friends and family?
Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
Sincerely,
- Franco, Shannon, Todd and the rest of the CTF team.
