John,

Every New Mexican should have the opportunity to access higher education, no matter their family's income. That's why I signed a law to provide tuition-free college for every student – and I just had the honor of meeting one of them.

Carla was inspired to go to nursing school after seeing how nurses took such great care of her parents in their final hours, but she didn't know where she could find the money to pay for tuition. Because of my administration's Opportunity Scholarship, she's working to achieve her dream and care for her community.

This time of year, you're probably starting to get bombarded with TV attack ads, urgent polling news, and political strategy messages, so I know it can be easy to forget what this is really about. The truth is, our grassroots movement is changing New Mexican lives – and I was only able to support students like Carla because people like you contributed to my campaign.

Since you're a key part of this grassroots movement, I want you to understand your incredible impact on the people of New Mexico: Will you take a second to listen to Carla's story?

This is just one story out of thousands of students like Carla – future nurses, teachers, and innovators who lacked the funding to pay for college. Because of our work, these students are able to achieve their career dreams and give back to our great state.

I can't thank you enough for supporting this campaign. Together, we're changing lives – one policy, one program, and one action at a time.
