Friends,
I hope you are staying safe amid some of the heat waves we are experiencing.
I wanted to send along a few updates for you that could make a difference.
The Drought Relief Application Window is now open. From now until July 6, Minnesota livestock farmers and crop producers can apply for up to $7,500 per farm for drought expense reimbursement. Farmers in all counties except Goodhue, Rice, Wabasha and Winona are eligible. Don?t wait- there is more than $8.1 million available for this program.? More information and application instructions can be found here.
You have probably seen the reports of what Governor Walz wants to do with the record-setting budget surplus. He wants to give out checks (more than likely right around election time) to families. We could have already returned this money to taxpayers through permanent tax relief. The House Republicans made every effort to create meaningful and long-term tax relief for Minnesotans. It was ignored until the session ended. It is disappointing that the Governor wants to offer a one-time rebate to Minnesotans. This has the appearance of being an election stunt. What Minnesotans really need is lasting tax relief that will help them for years to come.
Minnesotans deserve a record-setting tax cut that will put more money in their pockets, not just once in an election year, but every paycheck into the future.
I wanted to remind you about the Frontline Worker Bonus Pay applications that are open until July 22. Eligible workers can apply here. Thank you to all those who worked during the pandemic!
If you need anything throughout the summer, do not hesitate to reach out.
