I’m proud to share with you that I’ve earned the endorsement of Everytown for Gun Safety – locally known as Moms Demand Action. As a mother and one of the first volunteers for Edina Moms Demand Action, I am truly honored to receive this endorsement.

Gun violence prevention means more than just thoughts and prayers; gun violence is a public health crisis, and we need to work together to invest in real solutions to put an end to senseless tragedies. School shootings should NOT be a norm, and arming teachers with guns is NOT a solution. We need to make it harder to access guns to prevent violence - this should be a bipartisan issue. I believe we can protect our human rights by enacting stricter gun laws, investing in public safety measures, and ensuring our community members have access to the mental health treatment they need.

In Washington, DC, a bipartisan vote on sensible gun legislation is expected this week. State efforts to reduce gun violence must continue even if this legislation passes.

My heart breaks for students and parents who have lost loved ones to the daily tragedies that occur when guns are in the wrong hands. No one should ever have to suffer the loss that parents in Uvalde, Texas are experiencing - we can work together to prevent this loss and protect our communities.

I am committed to passing legislation that takes guns away from those most likely to misuse them and will fight to ensure we don't use military guns for sport. Everyone deserves to live in the safest possible environment.
