We have witnessed wins in states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Louisiana where courts have not tolerated maps drawn to solely benefit conservatives.

Undemocratic maps in North Carolina were struck down and ordered redrawn by the courts. The resulting maps are fair -- but Republicans in North Carolina aren't satisfied with fair and plan to redraw those maps to their advantage as soon as this December.

Nearly three years ago, a North Carolina state court tossed out maps so biased one of the justices described the “surgical precision” of the partisan and racial gerrymandering of the GOP. We must not allow them to succeed if they try again during the next redraw period. With antidemocratic forces so strong around us, we cannot sit back and lose the rule of law.
