John,

The crisis in Ukraine has caused unprecedented disruption and uncertainty globally – and it’s easy to feel helpless.

But, if there’s one ray of hope in these challenging times, it’s that through necessity, there’s renewed urgency and attention on reaching the women and girls whose sexual and reproductive health needs don’t stop because of a war.

IPPF’s Humanitarian Team and our partners are on the ground today. We are responding. We are mobilizing. We are protecting women’s health and saving lives. But we still need your help.

Before the war, commodities like emergency contraception were readily available in Ukraine. But with supply chain disruptions and an increasing number of women experiencing sexual violence – or who do not want to be pregnant during a war – are in desperate need of help. Emergency contraception is only effective during a five-day window, which means time is of the essence.

So far, we have delivered 3,000 packets of emergency contraceptive pills to areas of the country most affected by the conflict. By making a gift today, you can ensure we can get critical items like emergency contraceptives and other sexual and reproductive healthcare items to Ukrainian hospitals. In addition to these efforts, IPPF and its partners have been responding in:

-UKRAINE – Bringing enough supplies to support clinicians to see 2,700 pregnant women and safely conduct 900 deliveries!
-POLAND – Backing partners, including grassroots organizations, defending women and girls’ health, with capacity support, funding, and supplies.
-HUNGARY – Partnering with 3 Hungarian organizations focused on the rights of women and girls and supporting LGBQTI refugees.

Despite what we are seeing, we are not helpless, and neither are you. Your gift today can make an impact – even on just one person. The woman who is pregnant. The 14-year-old girl who is menstruating. The young woman who is fearful of sexual and gender-based violence and exploitation.

Please help now. Support our amazing teams, partners and the courageous women and girls we serve with your emergency gift today >> [link removed] Thank you.

In solidarity,

Julia Taft
