Dear John,
After last week's catastrophic flooding in south central Montana, I traveled to Red Lodge and Gardiner to survey the damage and get a firsthand update from folks on the ground.
On Thursday, I was joined by FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras in Red Lodge as Montana’s request for a major disaster declaration was approved. This support will help Montana communities rebuild and recover.
On Friday, Governor Greg Gianforte and I met with local leaders, small businesses and community members in Gardiner to survey the flood damage in Gardiner and Yellowstone National Park and hold a roundtable discussion on relief efforts for the community. We were encouraged by the community’s strength and resilience to get through these tough times.
I’m thankful for the Governor’s leadership and will continue to support his efforts in Montana and facilitate recovery efforts at the federal level.
I’m committed to working to ensure Montana communities get the resources they need to get back on their feet.
As the top Republican on the National Parks subcommittee, I will be working to secure critical aid to help Yellowstone National Park recover from the flooding.
I'm also reminding folks that Montana is still open for business! The Treasure State has many beautiful destinations, and our businesses are ready to welcome folks with open arms.
Sincerely,
Senator Steve Daines
