In 2018, after the tragedy at Parkland, my Republican State Senator failed to show up for a vote on a common sense gun safety bill. That’s when I knew I had to step up and run myself — I knew our district and state deserved a responsive, passionate representative in Tallahassee who would never back down when it came to the safety and well-being of all Floridians.
Since then, I’ve been a fierce advocate for our public schools, affordable and accessible healthcare for every family, and leveling the playing field for our small businesses.
But thanks to partisan redistricting efforts, I’m facing one of the most competitive re-election races in Florida — and I’m not alone.
All across the state, my Democratic colleagues are facing well-funded GOP challengers, and promising Democratic candidates are fighting in tough races for battleground seats.
