JOHN, I wanted to take a minute to share something with you that is very close to my heart.
But first, for those who don’t know me yet, I’m Leigh, Max’s wife. I’m a fashion stylist, small business owner, and most importantly, mama to our son Miles.
For a while, I’ve been feeling a mix of emotions about the state of gun violence in our country– heartbroken, outraged, angry and terrified. This frustration over gun violence is something I’ve felt for years, but it’s grown even greater recently as I’ve watched massacre after massacre happen and after each one our Government still does nothing to prevent the next one. Like so many parents in our country, Max and I drop our child off at school in the morning under a veil of anxiety and fear about whether we will see him alive at pickup.
We cannot continue on like this. What are we doing? We deserve so much more than leaders who continue to let children die from preventable gun violence because they are scared of losing their next election or getting on Trump’s bad side.
One thing that I love about Max is his unabashed commitment to doing the right thing, no matter what it costs him personally. Max knows that this is not only a characteristic I value in him as my husband; it’s one I expect of him as our Congressman.
Max isn’t in this to play politics, he’s in this fight to get something done. So, I want to thank you for being in this fight with us. Together I know we can win and finally see government on the side of our communities and our children.
Best,
Leigh Rose
