After new district lines were drawn, the electorate in the 49th shifted slightly in Republicans’ favor. But despite these challenges, our grassroots team held its own and notched a strong performance in the primary.

Now, the media is finally picking up on what we’ve long known: Mike’s campaign to keep CA-49 blue is one of the few districts that “could determine which party controls the House majority.”
 
Here is what we have our eye on heading into the General Election:

• A Kevin McCarthy-aligned super PAC doubled down on its promise to spend $1.6 MILLION on TV attack ads in the San Diego media market.


• The Republican candidate who advanced to challenge us is a known self-funder who has spent millions in past campaigns against Mike -- mostly on deceptive attack ads.
