Hi,
I’m writing to you today to announce that I’m proudly endorsing Charles
Booker for U.S. Senate.
Charles is running to replace Rand Paul — and he’s campaigning on a bold
progressive vision that includes passing Medicare for All, holding special
interests accountable, and lifting up working people in Kentucky.
Charles isn’t just talking the talk – he’s lived the struggles other
politicians just talk about. He grew up in one of the poorest zip codes in
Kentucky. He experienced the pain of poverty firsthand, and saw his mom
skip meals just so he could have enough. He’s been homeless, and has had
to ration his insulin because he couldn’t afford the medication he needed
as a Type 1 diabetic.
Now, he’s running to lift up families in Kentucky and beyond. I couldn’t
be prouder to offer my support for his campaign, and today I’m asking for
your help.

Some of you might be thinking. Isn’t Kentucky a red state? Isn’t it going
to be hard to win? Well, let me tell you a little story.
When I was first thinking about running for Congress, I heard the same
thing. People said I’d never win.
Orange County has long been known as the Republican stronghold of
California, and my district includes historically red areas.
But I decided to go for it because I believed we could make a difference.
We ran uphill. We built a powerful grassroots movement powered by
donations of $5 and $10. And we won.
Kentucky is a state that’s prime for change. It’s a Commonwealth where
there are actually more registered Democrats than Republicans on the voter
rolls. Remember, the Governor of Kentucky is already a Democrat.
I believe Charles is the leader Kentuckians need to bring together voters
to help expand our Democratic majority in the Senate. He understands
firsthand the issues that families care about and has made it clear that
he will end the politics of hate and division that grew under Rand Paul.
But he can’t do this work without your help.
