The scene was horrific. Animals were found living in filthy and overcrowded conditions, many in small cages covered in urine and feces and exposed to dangerous levels of ammonia. Some of the dogs were extremely underweight and suffering from untreated medical issues, and over 50 deceased dogs were found on the property.
Last week, we assisted with the urgent rescue of dogs and one horse at the request of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in Des Moines, New Mexico. Though these cruelty victims are safe now, their journeys are far from over as they begin to heal. |
We are providing ongoing support with evidence collection, legal and investigative assistance, forensics exams, medical and behavioral care, and shelter for the animals.
Many of these dogs will be transported to an ASPCA care facility, where they will receive specialized, ongoing care.
It’s thanks to compassionate people like you that we are able to be there for victims of cruelty and neglect at a moment’s notice. We hope that vulnerable animals nationwide can continue to count on your support. Please make a lifesaving gift today to ensure that we can continue to be there for those who need us most. |
