Hi, John!

My name is Andrew Virden, and I’m the Apartments Director with the Minnesota DFL. I wanted to reach out to introduce myself and share a little bit about what I’m going to be working on between now and November.

It's no secret that Democrats have always had a problem with "drop-off voters" – folks who vote in presidential elections but not in midterms. And facing the headwinds of a midterm election where Democrats control the White House, our ability to overcome this obstacle is more important than ever.

That’s where my team comes in. Our singular focus is having face-to-face conversations about the stakes of this election and expanding the reach of the Minnesota DFL coordinated campaign beyond just “likely voters.”

We focus on apartments because renters are often among those most likely to be left out or simply missed in traditional organizing models. It’s also an efficient way to reach a lot of people in a short period of time. Even if we nudge up voter turnout just a bit, it could be the difference between winning and losing in November.

That’s why I’m reaching out today: I just spoke with Nora, our Finance Director, and we’re still not on pace to hit our June budget target. If we don’t catch up, the apartment program won't be able to fill our open positions and support the DFL candidates across the state.

John, we can’t leave anything to chance this year. As one of our most reliable supporters, can you pitch in anything that works for you today to keep our critical apartment organizing program running? Anything helps!

Thank you,

Andrew Virden
