My team and I are up in Sacramento meeting with legislators and advocating for important climate bills as California races against the clock to act quickly on climate.

But I have to tell you, it can be frustrating sometimes: Often, when important climate legislation gets close to passing through the California Legislature, corporate polluters and the fossil fuel industry (and their deep pockets) do everything in their power to kill or weaken it.

Our sponsored bill, the Climate Corporate Accountability Act (SB 260), passed the Senate in January and is making significant progress in the Assembly so far! Now it’s one step closer to Governor Newsom’s desk for signing – and we’re one step closer to holding corporate polluters accountable in California!

But I won’t sugarcoat it: We’re facing a steep uphill battle for the rest of summer to push all of our climate bills through the Legislature to the Governor’s desk.
