Dear John,

How is our fight for abortion rights transnational? In light of abortion bans and restrictions in states across the US, what is the experience and need of US patients going to Mexico to access abortion care?

Last month, SiX and the Women's Equality Center hosted a delegation of state legislators to Mexico to answer these questions and more.

For more on our experience, watch this video and hear directly from our delegation ([link removed]) : New Mexico Representative Micaela Cadena, Colorado Senator Julie Gonzales, New Mexico Senator Linda Lopez, Arizona Senator Stephanie Stahl Hamilton, North Carolina Rep. Julie von Haefen, and Texas Representative Erin Zwiener.

SiX's delegation meets with feminist members of the Mexican Senate including President of the Senate of the Republic of Mexico Olga Sánchez Cordero.
This delegation emphasized the reality that while Roe is not, and never has been enough on its own, its loss would be a major blow to the global fight for abortion rights. Despite this, we know that abortion always has and always will exist and our communities have been preparing to be able to take care of ourselves and each other.

This trip showed that lawmakers have more power available to them than just policies. There is work to do for lawmakers at all levels to identify points of innovation and meaningful action: from donating unused campaign contributions to local abortion funds, to using your platforms to amplify abortion providers and funds in your community, and so much more.

Thanks for all you do,
