In 29 states, basic civil rights are being denied to millions of Americans just because of who they are or who they love.
I'm working to change that by passing the Equality Act – not just because it's Pride Month, but because it's the right thing to do.

Say you're a trans woman living in Indiana trying to get medical insurance – right now, Medicaid administrators could deny your right to coverage.
Or perhaps you're a gay man living in South Dakota – a bank could deny you the loan you need to purchase your first home.
If you're a gender-nonconforming American in Louisiana, you could be turned away from restaurants, salons, and other establishments, just for being yourself.
I know in my heart we can do better than this, Friend. The America I'm proud to live in offers equal protection for everyone under the law – no matter who they are or who they love – but we have some serious work to do to live up to that promise.
That's why I'm determined to pass the Equality Act, which would:
Prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity
Allow the Justice Department to intervene in federal court cases involving sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination
End the practice of banning folks from public spaces like dressing rooms and restaurants, so everyone can use facilities that align with their gender identity
Every American deserves the right to feel safe in their communities, live proudly without consequence, and love without fear. If you agree, add your name now to support the Equality Act!
