Friend, After June 30th, all campaigns are required by federal law to report how much money they have raised, and how much money they have in the bank – which means you’re about to hear from me (and many, many other candidates) much more than you normally do. So, in anticipation of that, let me reiterate my pledge: I will not send those “the world is going to end unless you chip in NOW” emails you always get. I will not create completely made-up deadlines. And I will not send you pointless pablum just to fill your inbox. So, here’s my pitch: the numbers we release two weeks from now will be closely tracked by my opponent, members of the GOP, outside groups, and just about anyone looking to flip my seat. They indicate just how strong of an operation I’m running, and just how formidable of an opponent I’ll be in the fall. That last piece is particularly important. This is the last end-of-quarter deadline before the August 2nd primary election, which is when campaign season will really kick into high gear. Meaning that this is our last chance to really show our strength before things get crazy. My opponent will be basing part of his election strategy based on the numbers we release in two weeks, so if you’ve been considering contributing, now is the time. Anything you feel comfortable chipping in will help as I run in one of the most competitive House races in the entire country. Elissa
