Pure wonder: that’s the Sandhill Crane. Every year more than half a million of them congregate on Nebraska’s Platte River, stopping over to rest during their journey north to breed. It’s one of Earth’s great migration spectacles, unchanged for thousands of years. And if you’re lucky enough to be there when they take off at dawn—20,000 or more of them!—the rush of their wings and the sound of their cries will thrill you down to your soul.
You know what I mean, friend. As a bird lover, you’ve had moments, too, when you’re awed and moved by the magnificent scope of nature. And you want to do everything you can to help protect the birds that provide so much wonder and joy.
