This past Sunday, as we celebrated Father's Day, I thought a lot about my own father, who passed away in 2014. One of our last conversations was about his fear that the same love of corruption and acceptance of totalitarian rule that devastated his country was rapidly infiltrating American politics.
He didn't live to see January 6, 2021, and so he didn't witness events that he had seen so often in our native country take place here on U.S. soil.
In some ways, I am relieved he didn't live to see that. I have those same fears, and I cannot sit back and watch our country become what my family came here to escape. That's why I'm running for Congress.
When I became an American Citizen, I swore to defend our Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. Will you help me keep my oath by supporting my campaign to defeat Scott Perry?
Anyone who has witnessed totalitarianism up close, or who knows those who have, will tell you that when politicians are allowed to behave in ways they themselves know are unlawful but expect that their friends in high places will protect them from being held accountable, we have reached levels of corruption that should frighten every one of us.
My father would be proud that I am running for Congress. He would be even more proud that I am doing so to stand up for the the freedoms that meant so much to him because he knew what it was like to lose them.
Will you help me stand up for Democracy by making a contribution to support my campaign?
Defeating Scott Perry won't be easy, but we have no choice. We MUST do better than Scott Perry if we're going to protect our country and the Democracy that means so much to every American. I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day Weekend with their families, and I thank you in advance for helping me to honor my own father.
With Gratitude,
Shamaine
