John, what happens next year matters as we seek to end gun violence in America.

John — what happens next year matters as we seek to end gun violence in America. It matters for communities across America looking for solutions before the next tragedy. It matters for survivors of gun violence coping with grief and paving a path forward. It matters for all of our Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers fighting for stronger gun laws.

That's why I'm counting on you to support our work and make a Giving Tuesday gift to Everytown and Moms Demand Action.

Dear John,

28 days. That's how long until 2020 — the year we can change everything.

In the past two years, we've made great strides in our work to end the epidemic of gun violence. We've passed life-saving laws, elected Gun Sense Candidates, and weakened the gun lobby's stranglehold on politics. Next year, we have a chance to make some of the greatest progress we've ever seen for gun safety.

This #GivingTuesday, make a generous gift to Everytown and Moms Demand Action for a future free from gun violence.

On average, one person dies by guns every 15 minutes in our country. Every gun death leaves in its wake devastating grief and loss. I founded Moms Demand Action to help channel that grief and anger into lasting change.

We have a tough job ahead of us. Months have passed since the horrific shootings in El Paso and Dayton, and the gun lobby has managed to block all gun safety bills in the Senate. Gun violence in communities across America continues to kill 100 people, and wound hundreds more, every day — forcing so many families to cope with tragedy.

Together, you and I can create a future where children no longer have to go through active shooter drills at schools. And where guns are no longer the second leading cause of death for America's children. And where we can all shop and play and worship and go about our business free from the fear of gun violence.

Support Our Fight to End Gun Violence This Giving Tuesday

Until that day arrives, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your partnership and your continuing commitment to fight gun violence.

Sincerely,

Shannon Watts
