John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:

• Should we increase government control of health care?
  Both before and after Obamacare, big insurance companies and big government controlled most spending on health care. The Affordable Care Act didn't so much change the U.S. third-party payment system as cram millions more people into it. A large coalition of nonprofits are now advocating for proposals ranging from gradual expansion of the third-party system to conversion to a single-payer system. CRC's Ken Braun investigates the threats here.

• How many Soros prosecutors are there?
  It depends on how you slice the bad apple. CRC recently reported that George Soros had spent at least $29 million in direct support of dozens of DA candidates, including nearly two dozen still in office. Now a new Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund study identified as many as 75 prosecutors who have received more than $40 million in direct and indirect Soros support. However you count, the "rogue prosecutor" movement has been catastrophic in America's cities. CRC's Parker Thayer explains it all here.

• Is government (or even private) grantmaking effective?
  In her just-published book, Professor Claire Dunning critiques government grantmaking to nonprofits. She concludes that the grantmaking failed to achieve its stated policy purposes. In fact, government-nonprofit partnerships tended to serve the interests of elites, rather than solve the problems of citizens. CRC's Michael Hartmann reviews Dunning's Nonprofit Neighborhoods here.
