Groups like Planned Parenthood provide critical care -- especially for folks in our rural communities who are more likely to be uninsured, poor, or forced to drive long distances to get the care they need. Steve King wants to defund Planned Parenthood, cutting access to healthcare for millions of people. We’ve heard too many stories from folks in the 4th district about the difficulties of receiving quality, affordable, and accessible care. It underscores just how underserved and overlooked our communities are when it comes to healthcare services.

In Manilla, a woman told us how she received her prenatal care at a Planned Parenthood. We’ve heard from others whose affordable cancer screenings from Planned Parenthood gave them the information they need to battle and beat their diagnoses. In all of Iowa in the past 15 years, 30 OB/GYN units have closed -- making Planned Parenthood even more invaluable to growing our families and ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Steve King has gone after Planned Parenthood, blindly towing the party line and working against the needs of this district to cut funding for an organization that performs affordable check-ups, flu shots, and other routine primary and preventative medical treatments.
