Help shift the moral narrative
And address poverty from the bottom up
Chip in today >>
John, whether you joined me on the streets of DC or online, you were a powerful force at Saturday’s moral march.
With the U.S Capitol in the background, I looked around and was awestruck: I saw our future leaders in the poor and low-income, white, Black and brown, immigrant and Indigenous, justice-minded and morally righteous people by my side.
John, I am energized, and I hope you are too. Now it’s time to continue on the path of love, justice, and mercy. We are deep in a moral, economic, and political crisis, and we will not be silent anymore!
Now, we will demand real policy solutions for 140 million people who are poor, or who are one accident, health crisis, job loss, or severe storm away from poverty.
We’ll do that by insisting that leaders of all levels prioritize policies that raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, guarantee adequate incomes and quality housing for all, provide quality, affordable health care, protect and expand voting rights, guarantee quality public education for all children, reform the broken immigration system, end the war economy, and ensure the rights of Indigenous people.
John, if you are able to give, chip in $5 or whatever you can to support the critical work that lies ahead.
People have said that the Poor People’s Campaign agenda is impossibly expensive and politically inconceivable. In truth, it is impossibly expensive and politically inconceivable that, in a land of abundance, we are ignoring the needs of nearly half of our nation.
We have the people power — 140 million poor and low-income Americans, along with allies who want to lift from the bottom — to change the moral compass of our country.
We will stand up against systemic racism.
We will end systemic poverty.
We will counter ecological devastation and the denial of health care.
We will turn back the war economy.
We will push back against distorted and misguided religious nationalism.
We will do this by organizing and mobilizing to change the narrative around these injustices and build out power. We will make sure that our elected leaders know where we stand and what they can and must do. We will nonviolently disrupt and protest. The rich and powerful are well-organized, and we will be too.
If you can give, please fund this critical work to organize, protest, and push for meaningful policy change: www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/donate
I am grateful to build this movement with you. Together, we will heal our deep social and economic wounds and realize the nation we have yet to be.
Forward together,
Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis
