Hi John,
Today is World Refugee Day, an international day of recognition and awareness, founded by the United Nations.
Currently, there are 27.1 million refugees [[link removed]] in the world, half of whom are under the age of 18. In fact, at the end of 2021, about 89 million people [[link removed]] were forcibly displaced as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations, or events seriously disturbing public order. With so many millions of people fleeing violence, famine, poverty, and war, we must remain empathetic and ready to help.
This year’s World Refugee Day is focused on three words: Whoever, Wherever, Whenever. Every person has the right to seek refuge, whoever they are, wherever they’re from, and whenever they’re forced to flee.
NIAC is committed to fighting for equitable immigration, peace, diplomacy, and upholding human and civil rights at every turn. Every human deserves dignity, especially those who’ve risked their lives fleeing to safety. That is an unfathomable undertaking - and too many leaders fail to understand refugees’ sacrifice and fear.
We diligently and compassionately advocate for more equitable immigration pathways and updated visa application processes for Iranians seeking to come to America as refugees or to visit family. And, we'll stand firmly that war is the leading cause of refugee crises and that we must embrace peace and diplomacy with Iran to avoid war at all costs.
We will always support refugees because we stand for compassion, inclusivity, justice, and equality. If you agree, can you chip in $25 or more to help us continue our imperative work? [[link removed]]

Thank you for standing with us,
Jamal Abdi
President, NIAC
