Phase 2 of the Missing Middle House Study
The County has released Phase 2 of its Missing Middle Housing Study. The Study allows any lot zoned for single-family detached homes to be redeveloped with up to eight units, provided that the resulting building meets all of the existing development standards for single-family housing. This represents a significant opportunity to bring a range of housing types to areas that have been out of reach for many for a long time. However, many of the applicable standards would constrain the ability of builders to add less expensive units.
The Chamber submitted a letter last week expressing our support of the goals of the Study, but urging more flexibility on standards to enable more Missing Middle units to be constructed.
