Hi Friend,

Yesterday marked the 157th anniversary of Juneteenth – an important day in this nation’s history. Today we celebrate the abolition of slavery while solemnly rededicating ourselves to liberty and justice for all.

On June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas the first celebrations of Freedom Day began as the last Black Americans liberated themselves from enslavement in the U.S – two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Slavery is our nation’s original sin, and our work to revitalize democracy won’t be finished until we root out every vestige of its destructive legacy.

As an organization, New Politics recognizes our role in the continued fight for freedom and equality for Black Americans. We honor and recognize the resilience and determination shown by Black servant leaders, who continue to fight against systemic oppression and unequal treatment for voters everywhere.

Learn more about how our team is supporting Black servant leaders – Republican and Democrat – who are running to uplift and serve their communities. Check out our recent posts, then follow us so you don’t miss any updates from our candidates!

We support outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
