Dear John,
Today is Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates the day that some of the last enslaved Black people in Texas learned of their freedom after the Civil War.

This is a time for us to celebrate the freedom of African Americans in this country and recognize the hard work of those who fought for their emancipation.
And as we celebrate this holiday today, it's crucial to remember that we still have a long way to go when it comes to addressing racial inequality and injustice in our state and our country. It's important for all of us, especially our leaders, to recommit to working towards a society that is truly just and equal for everyone.
Wishing you the best,
Tom Palzewicz
