Happy Juneteenth!
Today we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. While we should take pride in celebrating our freedom and achievement today, we should also be aware of how much work we still need to do to achieve full equality in this country.
Black Americans are disproportionately represented in all types of policies – from ones that increase voter suppression tactics to ones that fail to address healthcare inequity. Lawmakers need to take these matters seriously and do all they can to address inequality in policymaking.
I’m running for Congress to do just that. Arizona has never had a Black member of Congress, but we have the opportunity to change that this year. In Congress, I’m ready to give back to my community and advocate for the needs of all my constituents.
I hope you’ll consider contributing to our movement today to help us flip this seat blue and bring more diverse representation to Congress.
