John,
Today we observe 157 years of Juneteenth, celebrating the liberation and resilience of Black Americans. Steeped in the rich history and culture of Black Americans, I hope we all have the opportunity today to immerse ourselves in the strength of our diversity while reflecting on the needs of our Black communities.
157 years after the liberation of America’s last enslaved people, we’re still fighting for equality and justice. From voter suppression to gun violence prevention, we must do more to secure the rights of our disenfranchised communities.
Our work in Congress, holding back the GOP’s harmful agenda while delivering for the American people, is imperative to achieving the equality and justice we need. Only by increasing our Democratic power can we see major structural change.
There’s no greater honor than fighting for the rights of my people, and every disenfranchised American, during this pivotal time in our history.
Gratefully,
Shontel Brown
