John,
Today is Juneteenth, commemorating and celebrating 157 years since some of the last remaining slaves were freed in Texas. As we celebrate the ending of slavery in America, we reflect on the ongoing fight for racial justice and how important it is for each of us to do our part.
Americans for Tax Fairness means tax fairness for ALL Americans, but especially for underserved racial groups like the Black community, who the tax code has been rigged against since its inception.
The tax code has always worked for the white and wealthy. We fight to change that. But we recognize that economic justice cannot succeed without racial justice.
Whether it be our racist justice system, police violence, corruption in our political process, discrimination in our communities, or racism in our tax code, we must fight against all of it.
We will continue to fight to end the racial wealth gap; to fight for investments that lift the Black community; to fight for a tax code that rewards work, not the wealth of the white and privileged.
And we will continue to stand with the fight for racial justice as we say together: Black Lives Matter!
Thank you,
Frank Clemente
