John, as we celebrate Father’s Day today and look ahead to World Refugee Day tomorrow, it’s critical to recognize all of the fathers, parents and families who have had to leave everything they know behind in search of a safer, brighter future. For the first time on record, the number of people forced to flee conflict and persecution has reached 100 million – and half of them are children.

That’s why today, we’ve set a goal to have 500 supporters sponsor a child to provide them with critical resources and care – and we’re counting on you to step up.

One of these children is 14-year old Samad.* Conflict in Afghanistan forced Samad, his mother and his two siblings to flee their home and join their father, who lived and worked in Ukraine. However, their stay was short-lived.

After just six months, the brutal war in Ukraine forced them to flee again – this time to neighboring Romania. Now, they’re staying at a reception center, where our teams have provided advice, food and other essential resources – but there are millions of other refugee children around the world still in need of such critical care.
