John,
Today, our entire campaign is commemorating Juneteenth and the end of slavery in this country. It took two and half years for the news of the Emancipation Proclamation to be delivered to Galveston, Texas, by Union soldiers. Then, the last enslaved people were finally set free.
As we celebrate, we must also recognize the long-lasting legacy of slavery and the scars of inequity that it left behind. Together, let us recommit ourselves to fighting for fair representation, justice, and equity for Black Americans.
From everyone here at Team Scholten, Happy Juneteenth!
In solidarity,
– Team Scholten
