The steers broke through the fence early one morning last week. Dad jumped into the truck and started tracking them down.

He taught me long ago to work hard, care about your job, and produce results.

Dad’s 83 now - and he is still teaching me valuable lessons. A few hours later he corralled the steers back in the barn and started repairing the fence. Just another day for the old guy I lovingly call Dad.

I’m a father too - now with 28 years of practice under my belt. The great thing about fatherhood is that you get a chance to learn - everyday.

These past few days, Sharon and I were able to bring the three kids together - it's a special time to celebrate their life’s victories as they navigate their mid-20s.

This long holiday weekend - with Juneteenth and Father’s Day - reminds us again that family is not only foundational to our lives but also central to our hope for a better world.
