John,
Just last week, the House took a major first step in the right direction by voting to pass a number of measures that will help combat gun violence.
The Extreme Risk Protection Order Act is one of the bills passed by the House and its goal is to temporarily remove access to firearms from any person deemed a danger to themselves or others by federal court.
Often referred to as "Red Flag Laws", these laws allow family members or law enforcement to petition the court to protect someone who is suffering from mental health issues or protect others from a domestic abuser.
We need to the Senate to step up and take this critical step towards ending gun violence once and for all. Please add your name and tell the Senate to pass the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act in the final Senate gun violence prevention.

While the House passed many needed gun reform laws this week, most of them are expected to fall in the Senate. But for the sake of our families, our children, our teachers, and our entire country, we must put the pressure on the Senate to take action and make America safer.
The majority of Americans want legislation that will actually take on the epidemic of gun violence. In the 19 states that already have some form of an Extreme Risk Protection Order law, gun access by violent individuals has been widely reduced. In fact, the top five states with the lowest gun death rate all have Extreme Risk Protection Order laws in place.
We must stand together and use our collective voice and power to demand that the Senate do everything in their power to protect the American people. And that starts by passing the Extreme Risk Protection Order. We need your voice to help us amplify the call — add your name today.
In solidarity,
