John,
Two years ago this month Donald Trump and his minions in Congress rammed through a tax scam that is costing $2 trillion, delivering most of these goodies to corporations and the wealthy, and being used as an excuse to slash Medicare, Medicaid, education and so much more.
And instead of the $4,000 pay raise that he and Mitch McConnell promised would trickle down to working families, family income rose just $514 in 2018 and individual workers’ wages have risen just 0.3% since the tax scam became law. Both of these are well below the increases that occurred during President Obama’s last two years in office.[1]
And yet 60 giant corporations―including Amazon, Netflix, General Motors and more―paid nothing in federal income taxes last year due to the tax scam.
It’s clear: we need a Fair Share Tax System that benefits everyone, not just the wealthy few. That’s why we’re rallying our partners this month to protest the first two years of the Trump-GOP tax scam and to demand Congress repeal the tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.
On this Giving Tuesday, donate $5 or more to Americans for Tax Fairness to educate the American people that we face a clear choice in 2020: We can continue to hand out big tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy few. Or we can make the rich and corporations pay their fair share so we can invest in America’s future and create an economy that works for all of us.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
A new poll by Hart Research shows that by a wide 2 to 1 margin, voters support candidates for Congress who want to repeal the 2017 tax scam for the rich and corporations.[2] The Washington Post reports that Trump is preparing an election year tax scam 2.0 that he once again will try and frame as being for people, not corporations.[3] That’s why it’s up to us to explain to the American people about Trump’s outright lies regarding Tax Scam 1 and to mobilize against Tax Scam 2.
Donate to Americans for Tax Fairness today―this Giving Tuesday―to create a Fair Share Tax System.
We must stop giving the rich and corporations handouts while the rest of us pick up the tab.
Thank you,
Frank Clemente
