Andrew was proud to partner with this incredible organization and help bring free veterinary care to service animals here in East Islip. Andrew said, “It’s a privilege to be able to give a little back to the brave men and women who have given so much of themselves to this country and to our community.” ANDREW IN THE NEWS GOPers push ban on lawmakers paying family on campaigns " Republican members of Congress want to prevent their colleagues from putting family members on the campaign payroll after several prominent Democratic lawmakers have been called out over the practice. The Family Integrity to Reform Elections (FIRE) Act, to be introduced by Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) on Monday, would bar any candidate running for federal office from compensating immediate family members for campaign services...“Campaign funds should never under any circumstances be used to enrich a candidate or their family. Voters deserve to feel confident that their public officials are running to represent them, not line their own pockets,” Garbarino told The Post in a statement. “This legislation will shine a light on campaign finance and hold candidates for public office to a higher standard on par with the public trust they wield.” " Click to Listen. WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02 Andrew Tours Posillico Wash Plant Andrew had the opportunity to tour the Posillico Wash Plant this week, the largest and most advance soil washing facility in the world. Located here in East Farmingdale, Posillico Wash Plant has the ability to recycle 3,000 tons of soil per day. Posillico Wash Plant is at the forefront of sustainable soil management providing waste disposal services. This is good for our local industry and for waste management on Long Island. Andrew Tours Defense Contractor Facility This week, Andrew toured the Curtiss-Wright facility which supplies critical parts for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious warships. He had an opportunity to meet the hardworking employees and hear directly about the importance of the defense industrial base to NY-02. The Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition and Amphibious Warship Industrial Base Coalition suppliers contribute to the readiness of our fleet and bring jobs to New York’s second district. CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Securing PPP Loan Forgiveness A Deer Park resident applied for and received a PPP loan during the loan forgiveness period for his business and thereafter applied for loan forgiveness through Citibank. However, after completing the necessary procedure, the link was not appearing in his account dashboard which left the constituent hopeless with no other way to apply. Our caseworkers reached out to the SBA and Citibank, resolved the issue, and his loan was approved to be forgiven. Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need for the federal government. KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS Andrew Cosponsors Bill To Expand Mental Health Services To Veteran Families This week, Andrew became a cosponsor of H.R. 5029, Expanding the Families of Veterans Access to Mental Health Services Act which bolsters Vet Center readjustment counseling and related mental health services to members of the families of members or veterans of the Armed Forces who died by suicide. Andrew is fully committed to fighting on the behalf of veterans in Congress. Andrew will continue to work to ensure the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is adequately funded and managed, and to improve access to job training, mental health treatment, and healthcare services. Andrew Seeks To Reauthorize the Fallen Heroes Flag Act This week, Andrew celebrated Flag Day by helping introduce the Fallen Heroes Flag Reauthorization Act which allows the family members of a fallen first responders who were killed in the line of duty to recieve a flag that has been flown above the U.S. Capitol, together with a certificate signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Representative providing the flag. After making the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community, this show of gratitude and appreciation is the very least Congress can do for the families of our first responders.
